Growing your hair out is one of those things that looks straightforward until you are four months in, stuck in that in-between stage, and seriously considering just going back to a short back and sides. Most guys who quit do so in that middle phase. Here is how to get through it.
Keep Seeing Your Barber
This one surprises people, but regular trims actually matter during the grow-out phase. You are not taking off length, you are cleaning up the shape. Split ends, wispy bits around the ears, and an uneven neckline are what make growing hair look messy rather than intentional. A shape-up every six to eight weeks keeps everything looking deliberate.
Know What You Are Growing Towards
Having a reference point makes the awkward stages easier to sit with. If you know you are heading towards a curtain cut, a bun, or a longer textured style, the in-between phases make more sense. Talk to your barber about what shape suits your face and hair type at the length you are aiming for. That conversation saves a lot of guesswork and a lot of frustration.
Products That Help During the Grow-Out
As your hair gets longer, the products that worked at shorter lengths often stop doing the job. A lightweight styling cream or sea salt spray gives texture and control without weighing things down. A good conditioner becomes more important as length increases, especially if your hair runs on the drier or coarser side. Growing it out takes patience but it is worth it when you get there. Come in and we will help you map out a plan for the length you are after.
